GoPro Developing Consumer Drones for Filmmaking

As the consumer drone market continues to grow with smaller, cheaper, easier to fly alternatives, popular wearable camera purveyor GoPro aims to join the lucrative trend. While early drone manufacturers have products that support GoPro’s camera, some have naturally shifted to offering their own. It’s certainly an intelligent move for the brand as many extreme athletes who already use its top-notch video recorder are now looking for a camera to capture those hard-to-reach angles. However, will this force its soon-to-be, highly-praised competitors to stop making drones that support GoPros and begin developing their own?

Sources close to GoPro states it plans to start selling multi-rotor helicopters equipped with HD cameras late next year with a price tag between $500 and $1,000 USD.
