Creative duo Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard designed The Council Chair, a sculptural piece for Danish brand Onecollection. This elegant furniture project was envisioned in 2011, as a result of a design competition under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture. The aim then was to provide unique seating for the Finn Juhl Chamber, one of the permanent chambers at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During Milan Design Week 2014, the company will be showcasing a different version of this design, entitled Council Chair Lounge (last photo of this post). Here are some functional attributes of the new lounge collection, as presented by the developers: “The chairs provide excellent comfort and ease and are best for lounge or reduce seated conferences. They pass on the baton from Finn Juhl’s iconic design heritage in a sculptural and pleasurable route, which merges condition, color and organic materials.” Each product is constructed in molded 3D veneer in oak or walnut, upholstered with leather or fabric. The swivel base is cast in aluminum. How would you comment on the appearance of these conference hall chair models?
