This Artist Adds Pop Culture Icons into Thrift Store Paintings

Although the concept of repurposing existing artworks is by no means a new concept, artist Dave Pollot puts his own quirky spin on the idea. Rescuing old kitschy paintings from thrift stores, he paints additional pop culture icons atop the original canvas. Largely utilizing landscapes as an underlay, Pollot’s figures range from the Millennium Falcon, to Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in the flying Ford Anglia, to Optimus Prime. You can check out our selection from the series above, and head over to Dave Pollot’s website to see more.

The Hundreds Continue Their Tapatio Extension with a East Borough and Free Range Menu

Continuing its collaborative venture with independent hot sauce brand Tapatio, The Hundreds whizzed over to East Borough, a Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Culver City, California to witness the chef owner of Free Range LA, Jesse Furman, and East Borough’s chef owner duo, John Vu Cao and Chloe Tran cook up a storm. The resulting creations were Tapatio-inspired Mexican and Vietnamese fusion dishes which included the mouth-watering Fried Chicken Torta Banh Mi and the mind-blowing Wonton Nachos. Enjoy the above video and head over to The Hundreds’ site for more images and content.
