Customers Are Complaining Their $20K Hermès Birkin Bags Smell Like Marijuana
Customers are returning recent orders of the popular and expensive signature Hermès Birkin Bags back to retailers, complaining that the bags smell of marijuana and skunk when heated up in direct sunlight or in a hot car. Customers across the U.S. have documented reports of the strange odor permeating from the bags when under sunlight, supporting the possibility of a production error by Hermès. Pointing to a problem in the tanning process of the leather, customers are demanding that the bags be sent back to Paris, have the leather panels removed, and the entire bag rebuilt. The limited Hermès Birkin Bags fetch around $20,000 USD to $60,000 USD apiece, and the recent epidemic puts the pressure on Hermès as customers eagerly await a reply from the designer label.
