Ken Link Named Jordan Brand Design Director

Since the inception of Nike’s Jordan Brand in 1998, both performance and lifestyle models have come from a team of designers that worked simultaneously for both the Swoosh and Jumpman. The Beaverton-based sportswear imprint has decided to split those duties going forward, and in doing so, it has named veteran Nike designer Ken Link the first design director for Jordan Brand, as reported by Nick DePaula of Nice Kicks.

Serving Nike for over 20 years, Link previously held down roles as design director of Nike Basketball during the mid to late 2000’s, and most recently worked as a design director at the Nike Training and Nike Cleated categories. He’s likely most known for his efforts on the Zoom Kobe 1 and 2, as well as his design work for the LeBron 2 through 6 and the first three Zoom Soldier models.

Link’s first full season of products is expected to release in Summer 2017.

A Closer Look at the Jordan Brand 2015 “Pearl” Collection

Following Jordan Brand‘s unveiling of the 2015 “Pearl” collection, we now take a closer look at the exclusive pack. Consisting of four silhouettes, including the Super.Fly 3, Melo M11, CP3.VIII, and Air Jordan XX9, the 2015 “Pearl” collection pays homage to the mythical moments and remarkable achievements of Michael Jordan‘s career that have withstood the test of time like a fine pearl. Highlighting a magnified pearl texture on each shoe, the latest collection features white-based sheen and reflective threading, emulating the elegance, sophistication, and luminescence of a pearl. A translucent outsole decorates each of the four silhouettes, providing the finishing touches to a light and minimal upper construction. The Jordan Brand 2015 “Pearl” collection will be available at select retail stores and at Jordan Brand’s online store on February 7.
