Gucci Cruise 2016 Campaign is a Wes Anderson-Inspired Dance Party

Gucci’s latest Cruise 2016 ad campaign is a slo-mo, era-defying dance party set in a stately Italian villa. Evoking colorful prints of the ’70s, metallic tones from the ’80s with a head-nod to contemporary athleisure via silk bombers and sports caps, the collection is a far cry from the familiar luxe line of the couture house. Recently enlisted creative director Alessandro Michele stated “there is a more nuanced, subtle and multidimensional romanticism in my collections, moving away from overt sexuality.”

Directed by fashion photographer Glen Lechford and set to the tune of “She’s Lost Control” by synth band Alive She Died, the video has a look and feel similar to a Wes Anderson movie. It also features models Allie Barrett, Rhiannon McConnell and Tami Williams, among others.
