Astrid Anderson 2016 Spring/Summer Collection

Astrid Andersen presented her newest menswear ready-to-wear collection recently at London Collections: Men which presents an unconventional mashup of urban athletic-wear meets traditional Chinese clothing where distinctly Chinese brocades and boxing-robe-meets-kimono silhouettes feature cherry blossoms and other oriental motifsThe 2016 spring/summer collection takes inspiration from Andersen’s trip to Shanghai as well as Kurt Russell’s ’80s action film Big Trouble in Little China. The London-based Danish designer’s usual suspects of luxe sportswear silhouettes like basketball, baseball and ice hockey-inspired jerseys are mixed with a variety of trench coats, bomber jackets, tracksuits, kimonos, Chinese changshan silhouettes, crewneck sweaters, button-up tops, T-shirts, mesh tanks, silk pants, trackpants and basketball shorts in a pastel color palette of white, black, baby blue, lime green and lavender purple. The unique collection is abundant in textures like jersey mesh and shiny silk, and only reasserts Andersen as a top contender of today’s best “high-end streetwear” designers
