Apple Watch Pre-Orders Said to Surpass 2.3 Million Units

Apple is keeping official sales data about the Apple Watch close to their chest for now, but many independent researchers are stepping up with their own estimates. Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has an accurate track record when it comes to predicting Apple’s success, estimates that the global pre-orders for the recent release topped 2.3 million units. Based in Taiwan, Kuo uses supply chain sources to make his predictions, and in the past has correctly predicted tech specs of the Watch, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and the iPad Air 2. By these estimates, the Apple Watch is performing very well compared to past new product launches: when the original iPad went on sale in 2010, it sold 300,000 units in the first day before racking up a million sales in the first month. Comparatively, Apple sold 270,000 units of the very first iPhone on launch day, before hitting the one million mark 73 days later.
