New York Fashion Week Plans to Move Downtown

Having reported last month that New York Fashion Week will no longer be held at Lincoln Center following February’s shows, we’ve now received word that #NYFW will likely be moving downtown in the fall. Sources close to WWD reveal that although the exact location is still being negotiated, it may end up at several different venues around the city to give designers various options. It has also been rumored that the move is only temporary and will eventually land at the Hudson Yards’ Culture Shed, soon to be completed in 2017. What’s more is that Mercedes-Benz will be dropping out as the primary sponsor of the week-long event after February, while American Express has pulled its sponsorship effective immediately. Lastly, WME-IMG — the owning party of NYFW — has announced its purchase of rival Made Fashion Week, known for its shows at Milk Studios and various other venues.
