Thai illustrator Tanawat Sakdawisarak has a coolly surreal aesthetic

Illustrator Tanawat Sakdawisarak has a beautifully crisp but detailed aesthetic. His scenes are a mix of the ordinary and surreal, with a crocodile carrying a surfboard in one image and a yellow bowling ball-like character running down stairs in another. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Tanawat’s grid-like worlds are filled with numerous 80s pop culture references with a few Memphis touches thrown in for good measure, making it feel like you’re wandering through a coolly refined video game. But rather than the fluouro tones of yesteryear, Tanawat leans towards a more sophisticated palette of muted greens and subdued blues for his creations.
