Anglo-Japanese magazine Mother feels like it could be an editorial answer to Comme des Garçons in the way it allows subsets of eastern and western culture to coalesce. Dreamed up by London-based photographer Kate Friend, Mother has turned out three issues in the last 18 months, and the freshly-printed fourth – which follows the sweeping theme of liberation – only confirms that each one is stronger than the last.
