Designer Sculpts Wood Into Elegant Freeform Lighting

design lamp Freeform
A while back, we featured the sculptural lighting work envisioned by designer John Procario. The newest addition to his custom series of sculptural luminaries includes Freeform II and Freeform Pendant, each made from one continuous loop of bent wood (white oak or ash).

The creative lighting fixtures have an intrinsic quality of not looking the same from any two perspectives; it is as if each piece is constantly changing as you move around it.

The Freeform lighting collection features inlaid LEDs, with a custom cast polymer for light diffusion. We love the unexpected twists and turns exhibited by these lights, as well as the matching wooden switch. Originality, intimacy and elegance are a few of the words we’d use to describe this fresh design; what would you add? [Photos and information provided by designer John Procario]

I thought you might enjoy a little pick-me-up (gawd will this week ever end?!?!) in the form of some stellar interior photography by Christina Kayser Onsgaard of Denmark. Another example of a green wall gone right.
