Located in Ljubljana, Slovenia, this apartment was created as a model space by GAO Architects. They wanted to turn the flat into a modern and dynamic space suitable for urban living.
The interior design is colorful, lively and full of contrasts. The living area is an open space which also include the kitchen and dining room. The overall décor is rough but stylish. The main attraction in the kitchen is the oak counter which is the heart of the whole space, a multifunctional zone perfect for socialization. A partial wall visually separates the kitchen from the living and dining area which is a harmonious blend of light and dark shades and features a wonderful array of materials, textures and accent features.
The wall separating the kitchen from the hallway has a sculptural, geometric design and it also serves as a decorative element. It’s semi-transparent so it offers privacy but also allows the spaces to remain connected and to interact with each other. There’s also a nice exchange of light.
The hallway is long and narrow but well-illuminated. The white walls and ceiling and the design of the wall separating it from the kitchen give it a bright and open feel.
As you further advance on the main hallway you reach the private areas. There are three separate rooms: the main bedroom, a guest room and a smaller bedroom which could serve as a kid’s room or as a home office. Each room has its own accent feature. This one features an abstract painting which gives the space an artistic look.
The small bedroom has white walls and a light-colored floor matching the rest of the volume. This allows it to seem a little more spacious and to harmoniously connect with the rest of the apartment.
