The New England Patriots Defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX
The “Comeback Kid” did it again. Down ten to start the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIX, Tom Brady was in his comfort zone. After cutting the deficit to three with a charge down the field, the Patriots’ defense held Russell and the Seahawks to a three-and-out possession. Back at it, Brady stormed down the field, managing the clock like the wizard he is. A three-yard touchdown to Edleman — Brady’s record-setting 13th Super Bowl TD of his career — put the Pats on top, 28-24 with 2:02 left in the game. Known for his wonderfully-curated play calls however, Pete Carroll’s Seahawks immediately move the ball into Pats territory, and with an insane juggling catch by wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, Seattle had the ball at the 4-year-line, putting the team’s second title in arm’s reach. Instead of giving the ball to arguably the best running back in the league, a quick slant resulted in an Malcolm Butler interception, and like that, the game was over. The New England Patriots took home their fourth Lombardi trophy and first in ten years, while Brady was awarded the game’s MVP.
