British designer Neil Barrett returns this fall/winter season with a monochromatic black and white collection that features a range of rich textural appliqués that underscores the designer’s strong graphic sensibility. Introducing a selection of tee-shirts and hoodies, the pieces are emblazoned with digitally manipulated prints and pictorial mashups that demonstrate a contrast of both ancient and modern iconography. The set also highlights a melange of various silhouettes that include classically tailored slim suits, overcoats, bomber jackets, color-blocked sweatshirts, and neoprene loungewear. NOWNESS presents a new short documenting the forgotten sport of Speedway Racing. Told through the eyes of Lewis Bridger, who only two years ago lost his team captain to the sport, the intensity of man and machine is fully captured. Riding since the age of two, Bridger recounts how the sport has been a part of his life; from its transition as being one of the most celebrated sports in Britain to what is now pretty much only watched by true fans in the working class. Taking real guts to participate, the rider must race at speeds up to 60mph with no brakes or gears — accidents are all too common in this sport.
