Twitter Introduces Polls

In the past, Twitter has offered a variety of ways for users to “poll” — whether it be through tweeting questions and tracking replies, tallying hashtag votes, or asking followers to “favorite” or “retweet.” Now Twitter is making it easier than ever for everyone to weigh in on the topics they care about by introducing actual, full-fledged polling to the platform. In the days ahead, all users will be able to create a simple two-choice poll right from the “compose” box — with just a few clicks, you’ll quickly be able to chime in on, say, who will win tonight’s game or who you’re voting for in an election. Perhaps best of all, individual votes aren’t shared publicly and polls remain live for 24 hours.

Look for the feature to be available to all users over the next few days via Twitter.com and the platform’s iOS, Android and desktop apps.

Twitter Launches Group Direct Messages and Mobile Video Camera

Following Twitter’s “Coming soon to Twitter” post from December last year, the social media giant has announced that they will be rolling out two of the various proposals made within the article today. Firstly, it is now possible to hold group conversations privately without it being sprawled all over the feeds of others, which essentially minimizes the risk of receiving a barrage of negative replies — because as we all know, one slip-up on such a platform and it tends to get ugly. Twitter states on their blog, “The home timeline is a great place to have conversations but it’s also a place to find great conversation starters.”

The next improvement is the platform’s implementation of their very own video camera and inline editing tools. Designed as a compatible application to run alongside Twitter itself, the new video service has been simplified enough to allow you to capture important moments as they happen and instantly communicate them through your profile. As well as having the option to upload photographs and videos on the fly, you are also able to upload at least 30 seconds of content directly from your phone’s camera roll.

Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below and head on over to Twitter’s blog for more on both the direct messages and video camera. Will the infamous “Twitter warfare” take on a new dynamic?
