Google Patents Hologram Technology for Glass

This week, Google was granted a patent for using holograms in its Google Glass head-mounted display. Endowing the Glass with technology capable of superimposing computer-generated imagery (CGI) over the real world, the update will allow users to interact with a variety of software including the Google backed $542 million USD startup Magic Leap. Speaking to Techcrunch, Google remained coy stating “We hold patents on a variety of ideas – some of those ideas later mature into real products or services, some don’t. Prospective product announcements should not necessarily be inferred from our patents.” Head here for more background on the developments.
