Nike Aims to Use 100% Renewable Energy by 2025

As part of the RE100 campaign in conjunction with Climate Week NYC, Nike has announced its intention to use 100 percent renewable energy for its electricity demands by 2025, joining a roster of companies who have made the same pledge, such as Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, and Procter & Gamble. This is on trend with the company’s past efforts to innovate on the environmental front, such as the development of Flyknit technology, performance apparel made from recycled PET bottles, and the waterless ColorDry dyeing process. “Climate change is a global issue that requires global solutions,” said Nike Chief Operating Officer Eric Sprunk in a press release. “We believe that collaboration is important to accelerate and scale sustainable innovations that have potential to change the world, and Nike is proud to join the leading global brands in RE100 with our commitment to reach 100 percent renewable energy.”
