Bugatti Unveils its Vision Gran Turismo Concept

As promised, Bugatti has followed last month’s teaser with a full reveal for its very first post-Veyron concept: the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo. Highlighted by the supercar manufacturer’s signature blue hue, the conceptual design pays homage to the Type 57 Tanks of the late 1930s and the Type 57 G Tank in particular — the winning car at 1937’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. In no way a retro-style car, the concept seamlessly translates the design cues of that classic automobile into a more modern look while keeping the most special moments of Bugatti’s history in mind.

“We wanted to create a project as realistic as possible for our fans and put a real Bugatti in the virtual world of the PlayStation video game franchise,” said the head of Exterior Design for Production Development, Frank Heyl. “Every design characteristic is defined by its function. Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the perfect symbiosis of engineering and aesthetics.”

Etienne Salome, the head of Interior Design, went on to explain that “This is an uncompromising race car. The interior is designed to meet racing requirements. All indicators, displays and controls are located where a race-car driver expects them — easy to read and easy to reach.”

Fans can take a closer look at the vehicle over at Gran Turismo‘s website while a full-scale model will be displayed from September 17 through September 27 at IAA in Frankfurt. The concept will soon be available in playable form in Gran Turismo 6.
