Nike Holds a Tennis Match on the Streets of New York With Andre Agassi & Pete Sampras

In commemoration of the 20 years since the debut of its famous 1995 street tennis TV advert, and to celebrate the start of the US Open, Nike created an impromptu tennis court yesterday in New York’s Greenwich Village and invited an all-star cast to make use of the facility. Representing a whopping total of 86 major singles titles were household names such as Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras who starred in the original commercial, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, and eight-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe taking up the umpire’s chair. Also in attendance were up-and-coming NikeCourt athletes Eugenie Bouchard, Madison Keys and Nick Kyrgios. Worth an estimated $1.1 billion USD in total, this gathering of exceptional tennis athletes goes to show Nike’s exceptional weight within the sport today. Watch yesterday’s proceedings below.
