British manufacturer Lotus has made a name as a luxurious alternative to the paradigm, offering crafty, custom counters to traditionally-sought sports cars. With its latest release – the Evora 400 – Lotus challenges the establishment head-on. The car itself features an upgraded 400 horsepower and tops out at around 186 mph, which puts it amongst the ranks of many 911 Carrera builds already. At the interior, the car features thrillingly competitive detailing such as lightweight sports seats, plush perforated leather trim and more buttons than you’ll know how to push – including a “Noise” button that amplifies the engine purr into a thunderous roar. XCAR’s Alex Goy took the car out for a spin on a slick racetrack, and his reaction does well to sum the underlying truth – that the Lotus Evora 400 might represent a new entrant to the ‘top sports cars’ ranks.
