Boxy is in with this outstanding mod of the 2008 Yamaha Scorpio by Thrive Motorcycles. Envisioned in joint collaboration between the Jakarta-based motorcycle makers and the bike’s owner, the design was so radical a change that it necessitated the stripping down of much of the original frame. Built upon a new subframe that maximized the horizontal grid, the new body is made of a weight-saving sheet aluminum. Other additions include a Rental “Fatbar” handlebar, Honda USD forks, 18-inch spoke rims with Kenda “Trial Head” tyres, and a custom dashboard with a smartphone mount. The result is a stunning reimagining of the traditional motorcycle silhouette into something positively space-age, in what is sure to be a divisive but innovative design.
