Holographic Minecraft Demo Presented By Microsoft

Microsoft has been shifting from strength to strength at E3 this year, with the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider gameplay footage and also the incorporation of its VR headset, the Hololens, into the world of Minecraft. The VR demonstration showed the ability to shift from playing the game on a flat surface to a modelled holographic game space, allowing for the world to be manipulated with voice and hand gestures. Playing the game with the Hololens allows for some unique features including the ability to easily change gameplay perspectives and vision tracking, meaning the game understands where the player is looking at all times. This is evidenced in the video above, when the presenter looks at a TNT pack and tells the game to ignite it with lightning. As it is a demo, some features and fluidities may eventually differ when presented to the gaming masses but with this announcement, the industry is certainly taking a step in a futuristic direction.
