Famous Album Covers Reimagined as Pelican Books

From the studio of London-based designer Huw Gwilliam comes a selection of tastefully reimagined album covers. Designed in the style of dated Pelican books, Gwilliam has effectively transposed the publicists notable aesthetic to both timeless and modern music examples. The collection features his unique take on over 60 famous album covers and encompasses a wide variety of genres and ethnic backgrounds with everything from Michael Jackson, Richard Astley and Phil Collins to New Order, The Stone Roses and The Beastie Boys’ infamous album License to ill. Founded in 1937, Pelican Books helped pioneer paperback printing throughout its rise to prominence and has since retained a recognizable aesthetic across its selection of topical stories. With each album cover modeled beneath frayed, well-worn corners and Pelican’s graphical stamps, the full selection of reimagined album covers from Huw Gwilliam can be found on Flickr.
