Kanye West Speaks to Graduating Fashion Students About the Harsh Reality of the Industry

Kanye West was front and center Friday night with a class of fashion students of the Los Angeles Trade Tech College, speaking to them after their fashion show. In his speech, he warns the aspiring fashion designers of the hardships that they will likely encounter in the industry. “It’s a tough world out there, you’re going to prepare yourself for politics, bad bosses, hatin’ employees. Even for me as a successful musician, in order to make the transition it was really all but impossible. People always try to box you into what they know you best for.” Wise words coming from Mr. West, who served his community service sentence at the college as punishment for assaulting a photographer at LAX. But Kanye leaves his speech on a positive note, mentioning that “artists, or the most successful artists, are as close to who they were when they were five years old, or four years old, or three years old, or when my daughter wakes up and decides to change her career seven times a day, so I feel extremely honoured to see new talent fighting for their voice, and I can only imagine that they’ve been fighting for it since age three.” Check out the entire video clip over at TMZ.
