K’Yan Yip 2015 Spring/Summer Lookbook

Michael K’Yan Yip is a graduating Parsons School of Design student, but his designs are already making waves in the menswear realm. In the running for Parsons’ Menswear Designer of the Year and having participated in the Style.com x Kering competition, this budding designer is surely one to watch. Not to mention he’s already received grants from the likes of Hugo Boss, Swarovski and Linea Pella. His latest collection is inspired by gargoyles and baroque religious imagery, translated into a charcoal grey palette with intricate felt designs. “I like to call myself a pre-modernist designer,” Yip says, whose designs are a result of fleeting ideas instead of concepts. With pieces that can easily translate to a women’s wardrobe in the heyday of gender blurring, the strong attitude and sharp cuts are surely welcome.
