We live in an age inundated with communication. There are any number of ways to reach someone on their phone and computer, and sometimes the combination of messaging can feel, well, overwhelming. Aiming to alleviate some of this technological anxiety, a new project has been launched by the duo of designer Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang: The Light Phone. Tang himself is the former designer of devices such as Motorola’s Defy, Droid 4, and Razr, thus having witnessed the evolution of smartphones over time. With the Light Phone, Tang and Hollier aim to disconnect from the communication saturation of today, as the device is designed to be used as little as possible. Boasting a battery life of over 20 days, The Light Phone connects with your existing phone to make and receive calls – for times when the Internet can wait but an emergency cannot.
