Soon You Can Order Domino’s by Tweeting a Pizza Emoji

Ordering a pizza is about to be easier than ever. Come May 20, Domino’s will launch a brand new “tweet-to-order” system for customers in the United States, making the pizza giant the first in the restaurant world to regularly use Twitter for placing and completing orders (others, like Starbucks, have used it in a promotional capacity in the past). Better yet, regulars will be able to order simply by using the pizza emoji alone. As Mashable explains:

Once a customer has registered their Twitter handle on their Domino’s Pizza Profile, they will then be able to simply tweet #EasyOrder or just the pizza emoji to the Domino’s Twitter handle. Domino’s will then send the customer a direct message to confirm the order and the Easy Order saved in a customer’s profile will be automatically sent to their home.

Said CEO Patrick Doyle: “It’s the epitome of convenience. We’ve got this down to a five-second exchange.” The move makes sense for the Michigan-based company as more than 50% of its sales are conducted online. Doyle went on to suggest that the ordering system could eventually make its way, in some form, to additional social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
