Tung Wing Ho and Jason Keating have entered guilty pleas in a federal criminal case concerning their involvement in an illegal, cross-country shoe trafficking scheme. In court, the co-conspirators acknowledged their guilt to the charge of conspiracy to transport, receive and sell stolen goods, and are now waiting their sentencing later this year. As a part of their guilty package, the government has dropped the outstanding charges, which included wire fraud. In return, Keating must provide prosecutors the names of his customers during the operation, coupled with the final purchase amounts of the respective deals. He is also required to relinquish an additional $97,000 USD he earned from the sales. Ho will be giving up $50,000 of his personal earnings as a result of such fraudulent transactions. Prosecutors will now proceed in pursuing a penalty that mandates one year and one day in jail for the defendants.
Last month, former Nike promotional product manager and lead man of the operation, Kyle Yamaguchi also pled guilty. Due to his cooperation with investigators, Yamaguchi will be on probation for the next five years, and must complete fifty hours of community service, a much lighter sentence than his partners.
