Monocle Takes an International Tour of Its Favorite Chocolate Shops

What makes a good chocolate? The Monocle Briefings sets out to find the answer to that very question by visiting three chocolatiers from around the world for this month’s episode. The crew heads to Cape Town first to Honest Artisan Chocolate, a shop that values old-school traditional methods of handcrafting the confections that fill their display. In Tokyo, they meet Takatsugu Yamashita, the co-founder of Minimal who discusses playing with texture and size in an attempt to offer a more playful treat to his customers. Then, for their final destination, they stop at Chicago’s Chocolat to have a chat with its founder Uzma Sharif who puts a South Asian twist to her chocolates in homage to her heritage.
