1964 Ferrari 250 LM Sells for an Auction Record $9.6 Million USD

If you thought $2.75 million USD for a 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO was crazy, this record-breaking sale at the famous Arizona auction will blow your mind. A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, the ninth of only 32 models ever made, was sold for a whopping $9.6 million USD this past weekend making it the most valuable automobile sold in Arizona auction history. This particular model was sold by the factory to famed racing driver Scuderia Filipinetti who then went onto win the Sierre-Montana Crans Hill Climb and the XV Coppa Inter-Europa in Monza in this very car. After Filipinetti was done with it, the car was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, and subsequently sold to a couple new owners before being restored and certified by the Ferrari Classiche department ten years ago. It was also displayed at the car manufacturer’s factory museum in Maranello. Needless to say this car is a unique piece of racing history but was it really worth the money spent? Check out the video of the auction sale below and let us know what you think in the comments below.
