A Look Inside the Tetris House by Studio MK27

The Tetris House by Studio MK27 in Sao Paulo, Brazil is an exercise in thinking out of the box… by creating a very big box. Essentially formed with two concrete walls and a roof, the structure is completely open on two ends, save for a wooden slatted box attached to the roof which houses four bedrooms, and a smaller wooden box on the ground floor which contains the washroom and dining room. The remaining empty space encompasses the massive living room, with the library and fireplace resting on top of the smaller wooden box. The result is a stunning realization of permeable architecture and of blurring the delineation between interior and exterior, especially considering the fashion in which the same materials of the inside bleed into the terrace and garden. Airy and well-lit, this residence embodies the merits of minimalist architecture.
