The second annual Design Shanghai exhibition is set to take place in March of next year and is slated to house over 300 exhibitors across three halls, including genres: contemporary, classic and collectible. Among the featured installations is the late Jean Prouvé‘s Demountable House, which was originally designed in 1944 as an emergency shelter for the displaced people of the Lorraine Region of France throughout the second world war. Returned to pristine condition following Swiss luxury brand Bally’s acquisition of the installation, the Demountable House will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Prouvé had originally hoped that the Demountable House could serve as a template for future design in prefabrication. Though this dream may have not been realized, the iconic structure will be showcased for the first time in Asia alongside an original furniture collection by Pierre Jeanneret.
