Acknowledged in the past for being bold and rather ‘out there’, Japanese fashion label UNUSED has returned with their latest spring/summer 2015 collection titled “Hints of Luxe”. To understand the methodology behind their admirable eccentricity, we have taken a direct quote from their website — “Pursuing an ideal frame is removed, dismantled, and it proposes a new shape to exist”. It all makes sense now.
Whilst maintaining an obvious Japanese influence, the clothing appears to be more tailored, sophisticated and wearable as opposed to the looser silhouettes seen in spring/summer 2014. The positive change can also be translated into aspects of color hue — utilizing what appears to be something slightly more considered and subtle with less ‘pop pieces’.
The collection has an almost ‘westernesque’ feel to it with items such as the camel suede, collarless shirt, a selection of wide-brim headwear and broad-collars accented by bandana details solidify its stylistic influences.
