Amsterdam-based brand Daily Paper has shifted its focus on African-inspired streetwear back to influences from colder climates for its 2014 fall/winter collection. While such patterns are still evident in the brand’s signature pattern-blocking tees, as well as in an interesting application on work jackets, the theme is mainly one inspired by a Canadian lumberjack aesthetic, with the many apparent plaids and trapper hats. More structured pieces such as overcoats, elongated varsity jackets and quilted hunting jackets also make an appearance alongside woven polka dot button-up shirts and panel caps. Materials include lamb wool, woven cotton and leather, which lend to the garments’ versatility in dressed-up or dressed-down looks, while also protecting the wearer against the elements. The complete Fall/Winter 2014 collection will be available for purchase via Daily Paper retailers and online from October 10.
