Business of Fashion Lists 500 People Shaping the Global Fashion Industry in 2014

With the success of last year’s inaugural list, web imprint Business of Fashion launched a new #BoF500 highlighting the most influential people shaping the global fashion industry in 2014. In a letter to his readers, BoF Editor-in-Chief Imran Amed talked about how his team went about compiling this year’s list, starting with the question, “How would we update last year’s list with the same rigour with which the BoF 500 was first created?” In doing so, they chose to ask last year’s industry leaders who they thought was worthy of inclusion. After adding hundreds of new submissions to a database that already included over 2,000 “polymaths and multitaskers,” BoF narrowed it down to this year’s 500, representing 55 nationalities in 40 countries, across eight distinct categories, including Designers, Executives, Retailers, Models & Muses, Fashion 2.0, The Creative Class, Media and Catalysts. With familiar names like Anna Wintour, Hedi Slimane, James Jebbia, Kanye West and HYPEBEAST’s Founder and Editor-in-Chief Kevin Ma, this year’s roll call is also supplemented by interactive feeds, a Hall of Fame and a hardcopy with exclusive features.
