Book and Slinky Shadow Illusion

A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing!

I’m not sure if ya’ll have seen this particular shadow illusion before, but it’s a pretty neat one. It’s nothing more than a slinky aid in the crevice of a book.

It’s the shadow illusion that it creates that’s interesting here. The shadows created by the slinky look as though they are bent, almost in the shape of hearts. Of course, it the shape of the open pages of the book that are creating this shadow illusion. The shadows of the oversize spring are falling along the pages, which are curved, making the shadow appear curved as well.

If you like shadow illusions too, head over and check out my favorite shadow illusion—a shadow falling over a cliff!

Accidental Snapshots of Google Cameras Captured on Museum’s Mirrors

Google Art Project, which launched in 2011, is an online platform that enables users to virtually tour partner museums’ galleries and view high-resolution images of artworks. Interestingly enough, the platform also allows visitors a glance at the Google camera in action. Barcelona-based artist Mario Santamaría decided to click through the online platform and document all the times the Google Art Project camera has captured itself inside a museum mirror and has created a tumblr called “The Camera In The Mirror” where he collects the images.

Find out more about the project here.
