Paris Attacks Memorial Sand Sculpture

Good morning, world! I’m sure everyone now has heard about the terrorist attacks in Paris. Honestly, I don’t even know what to say about them. It’s an insanely senseless and terrifying event. So many innocent lives—just gone. It’s just one of those things that I’ll probably never forget. I’m not in Paris, nor do I know anyone directly affected by the Paris attacks, but my heart just breaks for anyone that was. My heart breaks that there are people out there capable and willing to take that many innocent lives.

As the world stands transfixed in horror, all we can do is hope and pray that a country, a world can push through the pain and start to heal. The healing from the Paris attacks won’t happen overnight. It will be an even that will go down in history, much like the attacks on 9/11 14 years ago. It could even be an event that will change the course of history…drastically.

As I was browsing through the Internet news stories on the Paris attacks, I came across a memorial sand sculpture created in India that caught my eye and tugged at my heart, and I really wanted to share it with you all…

Paris Attacks Tribute Sculpture

I’m sure I’ll have naysayers out there commenting that”that’s not an illusion” and asking “where’s the illusion?” The illusion this week is our safety; the feeling that everything is right in the world. The Paris attacks, as well as the terrorist attacks in Beirut, should prove as a reminder that no one is safe from terrorism. Still. It effects us all, and there’s always a chance that the next terrorist attack victims we could be mourning could be you, me, or our loved ones.

So, to anyone affected by the Paris attacks and those in Beirut, my heart goes out to you. There’s nothing I can say to make such a horrific event better, but just know that you are not alone. You have an entire world standing, not behind you, but with you.

Vive la France!

Fashion: Totally unique look book from young fashion designer Josh Reim

Main

What can you say about a guy whose bio on his website is just one big question mark other than “Dear Josh, you have the best look book I have ever seen. Explain.” From what I can gather, Josh Reim is a young fashion designer whose clothes look like altered versions of your best thrift-store finds. Kitsch embroidery, cuddly toys and enormous batwing sleeves are met with menacing ropes woven around hems, and cute characters on the fronts of dungarees that look a tad more frightening than they probably should. Add to that mix a bunch of models that look like they haven’t seen sunlight or vegetables for a few years messing around in a dusty recording studio and you’ve got one of the most palpable and inspirational look books you’ll see this year. Just to add to the mystery, it’s almost impossible to find anywhere that sells his clothes. Best guy ever.
