Completed by Nurit Leshem in Tel Aviv, Israel, North TLV Home is an attempt to correlate two completely different buildings: “The designer faced the challenge of planning a new house that would harmonize with the old one and create a visual and functional connection between them. An open space was formed between the dwellings, and together with the landscaping and gardening this created a pleasant sitting area.” The new residence was built on a plot of approximately 500 square meters (5,382 square feet) and has a built-up area of 120 square meters (1,292 square feet).
According to the architects, a new terrace was developed for the project, serving as the main hosting area of the old house. The unit integrates a kitchen with barbecue and overlooks the swimming pool. Openness, practicability and visual synchronizing were the main aspects to consider while planning the contemporary retreat: “The older house was entirely renovated and adapted to the family’s needs, which changed over the years, and the openings were altered and suited to the overall space.” Finishing materials greatly contribute to a sense of compatibility between the buildings.
