From closed box to open bazaar: Street 14 ideas competition

Winners of the Street 14 ideas competition were announced on 9 October 2014. The competition sought to explore ideas of what the retail main street of tomorrow could be, using Taylor Street in Moorabbin Junction as the hypothetical site.

Located in south-east suburban Melbourne, the site is home to reputedly Victoria’s second busiest Woolworths supermarket and unsurprisingly, the street is dominated by a large carpark. The competition asked entrants to consider the public realm of the street but also the adjacent freehold land and how integration between the two might yield design outcome.
