2014 Open House Melbourne

2014 Open House Melbourne

Open House Melbourne is back for 2014 on the weekend of 26-27 July. This popular annual reveal of the city adds thirty-five buildings – old and new – to its itinerary, including 41X, Circus Oz, NAB headquarters (shortlisted at the 2014 WAF Awards), 2014 Victorian Architecture Awards winners The Commons and The Quays, the iconic Young and Jackson Hotel, CitiPower’s J  Substation and a hard-hat tour of the new Melbourne School of Design building by John Wardle Architects and NADAAA, currently under construction.

In total, 103 buildings will open to the public, however thirteen properties will be offered only by a ballot system, which means places are limited, and ballots are open until Friday 18 July. Balloted tours include: Flinders Street Station Ballroom; a tour of the glass cone at Melbourne Central; an insider’s look at the exhibition and graphics departments at National Gallery of Victoria, and private residences, the Cairo Flats and Bower House.
