A Selection Of Mesmerizing Aerial Photographs

In a recent curation of mesmerizing aerial photographs by New York-based website Daily Overview, we are offered a unique insight into the result of humanistic development on the earth’s surface. The selection of abstract photographs delves deep into environments we often overlook. Directly inspired by an idea known as the “Overview Effect,” creator Benjamin explains, “this term refers to the psychological shift that astronauts experience when given the opportunity to look down and view the Earth as a whole from outer space.” The series is as much about the art it ultimately is as it is in its attempt to give each viewer somewhat of a psychological perspective on the earth’s current state. The series documents intricate man-made phenomena such as the almost iridescent Lop Nur Potash solar ponds in China, the Potash Mine in Moab, Utah and Louisiana’s Red Mud Pond which is a result of the world’s aluminum production. Enjoy our selection of imagery above and head directly to Daily Overview’s PRINTSHOP for more fascinating imagery and a background on each piece’s origin.
