Boston premium sneaker spot Concepts gives us another great collaboration, this time with running shoe company Brooks. The duo are thus re-introducing the Brooks Beast 1 model for this special project, with elevated materials in this runner’s staple. Colorway-wise, the “Voodoo” uses a salmon-esque rear quarter with a pastel blue toebox and beige mid section. Additionally, Concepts wanted to channel in the late Jimmy Hendrix into this collaboration who shares with Brooks a hometown of Seattle, Washington, thus blasting the inner soles and signature custom-made box with a psychedelic tie dye pattern. Adult Swim’s “Black Dynamite” to Air a Musical on Police Brutality featuring Erykah Badu, Tyler, the Creator and More
As the tensions between America’s law enforcement and it’s citizens continues to boil, Adult Swim‘s blacksploitation parody Black Dynamite plans to air an hour long musical special themed around police brutality. Titled “The Wizard of Watts,” this particular episode calls upon the likes of Erykah Badu, Tyler, the Creator, Tim Blake Nelson, J.B. Smoove and more, as Black Dynamite — played by Michael Jai White — must return from a vacation to defend his community from violent cops. During the scuffle however, Black Dynamite begins to hallucinate into the “Magical Land of Oz-Watts” after being struck in the head by a brick. Director Carl Jones spoke on the special, stating “As a comedy writer, I feel it’s my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue.”
“The Wizard of Watts” will air January 10 at 10:30pm EST on Adult Swim.
