America’s First Ever Street Legal Porsche 959 up for Auction

A model of Porsche that was illegal in the United States until 1999, and still can’t be driven on American roads without special modification, is to be sold by auction house Bonhams. The Porsche 959, considered to be the German manufacturer’s first ever supercar, never passed the requisite tests to be considered street legal in America and duly passed into automotive folklore. This customized model, the first ever to be adjusted for road use, is one of only 284 examples built and is set to fetch somewhere in the region of $1,250,000 USD when it is sold later this month. Check out the listing for more information on this piece of motoring history.
