A recent cover shot of Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci and friends on the front of Vogue Japan ran with the subtitle: “Fashion Gang.” While the cover was notable for the star power involved, it also inferred a new era in fashion; the rhetoric of pollination and collaboration has become something of an obsession for the fashion industry. The cover and its sentiments are put into better perspective in Givenchy’s campaign for Fall/Winter 2015, which features none other than Donatella Versace – chief designer and president of the Versace fashion house.
Versace took to social media to express her thoughts on the campaign, stating: “I believe in breaking rules. I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community.” She and Givenchy have done well to embody that, hopefully setting a precedence for more barrier-breaking in seasons to come. Mert & Marcus were privileged with the shooting, while Carine Roitfeld was charged with styling on this campaign, which will roll out in full in the coming weeks.
