The New iTunes Icon Takes Inspiration from Apple’s 1977 Logo

Along with the release of Mac OS X El Capitan, we see some surface changes to the Apple operating system, some of which hold some historical significance. Take the new iTunes icon, for example, which now sports a white centered beam note overlaid on a colorful blurred background. Upon second glance, you may notice that the purple, orange, teal and cobalt of the background correspond largely to the spectrum as seen in Apple’s original and iconic 1977 logo. These colors are also apparent on the new Apple Music icon, which comes pre-installed with all devices running El Capitan.
