Kamea Hadar and Defer “Paradise Lost” Project

Kamea Hadar and Defer teamed up at this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii to paint the front of Fresh Cafe, a joint venture that went on to cement an ongoing collaboration dubbed “Paradise Lost.” Inspired by English poet John Milton’s poem of the same name, the artists reference Hawaiian iconography such as the hibiscus flower and the Biblical story of Adam and Eve and their exile from Paradise in their work. Painting a somber narrative which involves Satan’s presence in the Fall of Man, “Paradise Lost” features a series of hyper-realistic oil paintings that have been exhibited across murals and gallery shows in Hawaii, California and Israel. Enjoy pieces from the “Paradise Lost” project here and stay tuned for more work from the series.
